DISCIPLESHIP PATHWAY
THE DISCIPLESHIP PATHWAY
Here at Freedom, our mission is simple:
We exists to make disciples who love UPward, INward, and OUTward.
Our mission to “make disciples” is from the Great Commission and “who love upward (God), inward (one another), and outward (our neighbors)” is from the Great Commandment.
THE GREAT COMMISSION – Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations (ethnic groups), baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
THE GREAT COMMANDMENT – Matthew 22:37-40
And Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
To put our mission into action, we have put together a practical process for you to grow as a disciple called “The Discipleship Pathway.”
We believe that coming to know Christ isn’t the conclusion of your spiritual experience; it’s the beginning of a lifelong discipleship journey that will mold you and shape you as you grow in your relationship with Jesus for many years to come. In other words, becoming a Christian isn’t the end of something … it’s the start of something!
The goal of the discipleship pathway is life transformation. We desire that you discover what it means to walk in the way of Jesus, thrive in community, and share God’s redemptive plan with your neighbor.
The discipleship pathway is a way of living life. It’s less about completing specific tasks, and more about connecting with others while growing closer to Jesus. All three areas of the pathway are meant to be experienced at the same time. At times you may find yourself leaning into one area a little more than the others, but all three should be present in your relationship with Christ, his bride the Church, and the people we’re called to reach.
As a part of Freedom, we believe there are three essential aspects of every disciple’s journey:
1. LOVE UPWARD – We want every person to come to saving faith in Jesus Christ and be transformed by God’s Word on a regular basis.
2. LOVE INWARD – We want to help every person to find community and develop meaningful relationships through community groups and discipleship.
3. LOVE OUTWARD – We believe God calls every person to join Him where He’s working to carry the Gospel to our community and around the world.
